Bairstow goes close on the PGA Tour

Heading into the PGA Tour & DP World Tour co-sanctioned events in the U.S.,  Sam Bairstow had enjoyed a successful start to life on the DP World Tour – registering an impressive eight Top-25 finishes to go alongside his successful qualification to the 124th U.S Open Championship at Pinehurst.

With a golfing prowess suitably matched to the setup of PGA Tour golf, there were of course high hopes for a positive performance on the U.S. circuit.

Teeing it up at the Isco Championship from Keene Trace Golf Club  in Kentucky and motivated by the opportunity to make a statement amongst his experienced peers, Sam showed his class in navigating a demanding -8 cut line.

Safely through to the weekend, Sam would enjoy a Saturday to remember. A bogey-free 62 (-10) moved him to within two shots of the lead heading into Sunday’s final round, well and truly introducing himself to the U.S. fans and media that were enamored with his long driving and putting ability.

Impressively calm throughout, Sam’s Sunday push would ultimately come up just short, with a chip-in birdie attempt at the 18th hole to join the 5-man playoff narrowly sliding by.

A sixth-placed finish on the week delivered Sam his third Top-10 of the season, moving him up to 46th in the Race to Dubai Rankings, as we head into a run of the DP World Tour’s most notable flagship events, each carrying elevated ranking points.
